Shane Thomson

Shane recently joined the Housing Hub team, in August 2023. With over 30 years of experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors, he has held progressively senior roles in municipal government, in Ontario and New Brunswick.

Shane currently brings his diverse background and expertise to the role of Senior Development Manager, leading the management and execution of several multi-residential affordable housing, community building and social purpose development projects across the province. As the Director of Economic Development for the Town of Riverview for over 10 years, Shane developed and implemented innovative strategies while leading the municipal economic development team with a focus on building complete neighbourhoods. He has also been a champion of the Town’s strategic sustainability initiatives. Most recently, as Chief Administrative Officer, he led a small New Brunswick municipality through the challenges of municipal reform and unprecedented growth. His previous work in economic development highlighted the ever-increasing challenge of workforce and housing growth as key factors in ensuring a sustainable economy, and as a senior administrator he recognized the key role municipalities can play in building strong communities for all.

Never a fan of the status quo, Shane looks for innovative solutions to current issues. Sometimes with a fishing rod in hand and a dog at his feet.
